Home Piston Single Engine Beechcraft Bonanza J35 1958 Beech J35 Bonanza

1958 Beech J35 Bonanza

Starting bid: $5,000.00

Designed by a team led by Ralph Harmon, the model 35 Bonanza was a relatively fast, low-wing monoplane introduced at a time when most light aircraft were still made of wood and fabric. The Model 35 featured retractable gear, and its signature V-tail which was equipped with an elevator/rudder combination called “ruddervators”. This made the aircraft both efficient and distinctive. First flown on December 22, 1945, the first production models were released in 1947.

In 1958 Beech introduced the J35 model which was an upgrade from the prior H series. The J models were delivered with a fuel injected Continental IO-470-C engine, optional autopilot, and improved instruments. Beechcraft built 396 examples before releasing the K model in 1959.

N7226B (SN: D5549) is a J model delivered in April of 1958. It has been owned by the seller since 2015 and will be delivered with complete logs and history. The seller states that the aircraft is airworthy and U.S. registered until 2022.

Log books (See Here) indicate that the aircraft had a damage incident in April of 1960. This resulted in damage to the nose gear, door and propeller. These items were subsequently repaired and the aircraft was returned to service. Airframe total time at incident was approximately 500 Hrs.

In 1977 the aircraft was stripped and repainted. Currently, the paint condition is below average with numerous chips visible in the paintwork. Inside, the carpet shows poorly and is in need of repair or replacement. The seats and headliner appear to be in average condition showing normal wear.

Power to the aircraft is delivered by way of a six cylinder Continental IO-470-C  fuel injected engine that produces 250 brake horsepower and has a crankshaft speed of 2600 RPM. The engine has horizontally opposed air cooled cylinders. In 2016, at 1,540 Hrs. SMOH, the engine underwent a top end overhaul that included the installation of new cylinders and pistons. (See engine log entries dated 2016 for complete details) TSMOH is now approximately 1,560 Hrs. A recent compression check showed the following compressions: 70,72,66,70,64,68.

The propeller is a Beech model 278 that appears to be in good condition. TSMOH is approximately 1400 Hrs.
